Osaka, Sept 29, 2005 - (JCN Newswire) - Panasonic, the leading brand for which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is best known, announced that the company will demonstrate its vision of the future at the upcoming CEATEC JAPAN 2005. Using its global brand slogan "Panasonic ideas for life" as the theme, the company will provide a glimpse of the state-of-the-art networked home with a large-screen flat-panel digital TV at the center.
CEATEC JAPAN 2005 is one of Asia's leading exhibitions for advanced technologies in the image, information and communications fields. The exhibition will be held from October 4 to 8 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo. The Panasonic display will be one of the largest at the exhibition.
With digital electronics and terrestrial digital broadcasts quickly finding their way into Japanese living rooms, the new high definition era has begun in earnest. Home networking has been making headway in tandem, connecting various digital appliances. Panasonic has also entered a new stage in its collaboration with Matsushita Electric Works, Ltd. Bringing all the resources of the Matsushita Group together, the Panasonic booth will showcase its 'V-products'* including state-of-the-art digital electronics and core technologies.
*Panasonic defines "V-products" as those that can achieve top shares in high-volume markets and contribute to overall earnings with "black-box" technologies.
The exhibition consists of a main stage and six display corners as follows:
Main stage
Digital TVs, at the center of the home network, are evolving towards high definition and large screens. Panasonic will showcase the networked home of "Today," "Tomorrow," and "Future." The networked home of "Today" is characterized by SD-applied products, DVD recorders and plasma screen TVs. Panasonic's "HD Living-Room Theater" will illustrate a family entertainment space of "Tomorrow." Panasonic envisions that digital TV will serve as "window of information" in the "Future."
Display corners
Panasonic products, technologies and services in audio-visual, communications, semiconductors and networking fields will be on display in six corners of the exhibition (see main exhibits below). These products support the ideas introduced on the main stage. The high-definition-ready, high-speed power line communication (HD-PLC) technology will also be demonstrated. During the exhibition period, Panasonic will conduct a verification test on the premises to simulate a future home of HD-PLC. It will be the first time for a trial of this kind to take place during an exhibition in Japan.
In the keynote speech forum, Mr. Kazuhiro Tsuga, Executive Officer in charge of Digital Network and Software Technologies, will give a presentation on "A Prospect for Digital Appliances and Home Network" starting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5 at the Convention Hall A, International Conference Hall.
