Tokyo, Jan 10, 2006 (JCN) - Canon has decided to build a new camera lens production facility in the premise of its subsidiary Oita Canon.
The new building, which is to be located in Aki-machi, Oita, will manufacture replacement lenses for digital single-lens reflex cameras.
The company will start construction in March with an initial investment of about 14 billion yen ($122 mil).
The new facility will be up and running by May 2007. With this move, Canon aims to meet a growing demand for replacement lenses.
