QSAI, Fukuoka University Confirm that Kale Has Property to Prevent and Improve Diabetes
Tokyo, Mar 31, 2006 (JCN) - QSAI has announced the results of its recent research on kale, a deep yellow vegetable. In collaboration with Fukuoka University, the company has examined how an intake of kale extract affects the condition of diabetes.
In mice experiments, the two partners confirmed that the extract helps inhibit the rise in blood glucose levels, and at the same time improves the activity of insulin and enhances the body's adipocyte glucose uptake capability.
Accordingly, the partners have concluded that the kale extract may play a role in preventing diabetes and improving diabetes control. Details of the research were presented at the 126th Annual Meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Japan held in Sendai on March 29.
