AIST Synthesizes Large Amount of White Organic Nano Tubes
Tokyo, July 25, 2006 (JCN) - A research team at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) has developed a technology to synthesize amphiphilic molecules into various types of white organic nano tubes with inner diameters of 40-200nm, outer diameters of 70-500nm, and lengths of several micrometers.
This simplified technology can be used to reduce the amount of agents needed to produce tubes to only 1/1,000 the amount required by conventional methodologies.
Proteins, metallic nano particles, and other materials with more than 10nm in size can be used for creating tubes, so the technology can be applied to production of sustained release drugs and health food.
