Tokyo, Aug 8, 2006 (JCN) - Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute have developed a new lumber- drying technology for Japanese Cedar using high temperature heating steam, which can maintain dryness up to a certain level.
With this technique, the lumber drying process time has been reduced by half, to 4 days compared with the conventional method. Moreover, the new technique overcomes lumber cracks due to moisture and establishes a method for efficiently controlling thr dryness of cedar required for various uses.
FFPRI belioeve the new technolgy will allow for the supply of low cost high quality cedar lumber on the market.
