NIAS and Sanger Institute Concludes Agreement on Pig Genome Research
 

Tokyo, Aug 14, 2006 (JCN) - National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS) and Society for Techno-Innovation of Agriculture Forestries and Fisheries (STAFF) announced August 14 they have concluded joint research with the Sanger Institute on the Porcine Genome Physical Mapping Project.

NIAS and STAFF will produce a draft sequence of the genome from the Bacterial Artificial Chromosome region commissioned by the Sanger Institute. The result of the joint project is to be announced at the Porcine International Genome Sequencing Consortium.

The finished mapping project will contribute to the development of livestock technology and further medical research using pigs as models.
