Seiko Precision Launches 3.2 Megapixel, Auto-focus Camera Module

Tokyo, Sept 15, 2006 (JCN) - Seiko Precision Inc. (Seiko) today announced that it has launched the P0029, a 6mm-thin 3.2 megapixel camera module with auto-focus function, for mobile phones with a camera feature.

Seiko used its aspheric lens design technology to lower the overall height of the lens and utilized an upgraded linear motor unit for an actuator to accomplish the thickness of 6mm. The module's dimensions are 11mm (width) x 20mm (length) x 6mm (height).

Going forward, Seiko plans to produce 300,000 camera modules per month beginning in March 2007 at its factory in Thailand.
