| Matsushita to Launch Home Fuel-Cell Cogeneration System in FY '09 |

Osaka, Apr 14, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. <6752> said Monday it will launch a home-use fuel-cell cogeneration system in fiscal 2009 starting next April that produces heat and electricity at the same time.
The company is scheduled to start production of sample products at its plant in Kusatsu, Shiga Prefecture, in June at an annual pace of several hundred units, it said.
Matsushita's system boasts the world's top-class power generation efficiency in an output range of 500 watts to one kilowatt and is designed to last for at least 10 years, according to the firm.
Annual carbon dioxide emissions for a home equipped with the system will be 1,175 grams less than those for a home using electricity from thermal power generation, according to tests conducted by Matsushita.
Sample products are priced at several million yen each. But the company intends to lower the price to about 500,000 yen by fiscal 2012, officials said.
