Yokohama, May 14, 2008 - (JCN Newswire) - Panasonic, the leading brand by which Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. is known, today announced the company will launch two new HDD Car Navigation System models in Japan in June. The new high-end Strada F-Class(2) models are the world's first(1) car navigation systems that enable network linkage between cars and homes, offering a new "car lifestyle."
Strada will celebrate its fifth anniversary this summer, having sold more than one million units in Japan in the four years since the first model was launched in July 2003. Panasonic has introduced the concept "From Home to Car," that effectively turns a car into a second living room by linking users' vehicles to their domestic electrical appliances through Bluetooth(R) technology. The new F-Class models allow drivers to remotely operate lighting and air conditioners at home, monitor conditions at home via still images captured with a network camera (optional)(3)(4), and record TV programs by controlling a Panasonic DIGA DVD recorder from the car (optional).(3)(5)
The new F-Class models deliver high quality sound and images. To achieve improved picture quality, Panasonic has developed a high-quality circuit for the new models, redesigned and incorporated the picture processing technology, originally built for its VIERA flat-screen TVs, into the car-mounted panels. The result is a clean, crisp, and colorful terrestrial digital broadcasting image with superior picture quality. In addition, the newly-adopted LCD AI technology automatically determines the brightness of images to control backlight luminance in real time and adjust color contrast for easy viewing. Improved sound reproduction has been realized by adopting a recording engineering group MIXER'S LAB(6) to supervise sound coordination. Drivers can now enjoy high quality audio, finely tuned by the professionals who specialize in music recording and mastering.
Panasonic has introduced two new models, the in-dash type (CN-HX1000D) and the 2DIN type (CN-HW1000D) of car navigation systems. The models carry the same features and functions but differ in size in order to accommodate for various makes of vehicle. The in-dash model will be launched on June 13 and the 2DIN model on June 20.
