Nissan Starts Developing Plug-In Hybrid

Tokyo, Sept 2, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Nissan Motor Co. <7201> has started developing a plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle, Vice President Mitsuhiko Yamashita said Tuesday.

When to release the vehicle remains to be fixed, he said.

A plug-in vehicle can be charged from a home outlet. Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> unveiled plans last month to release a plug-in hybrid late next year for corporate fleets.
