Tokyo, May 11, 2009 - (JCN Newswire) - TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announces it will hold a traffic-safety event for children at the TOYOTA Safety Education Center "mobilitas" ("mobilitas"), at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
The event, called "The Toyota Safety School in 'mobilitas'", is aimed at preventing traffic accidents involving children and has been held since 2006 as part of the contributions made by "mobilitas" to the local community. The event is also supported by the local government and is attended by children from local kindergartens and nursery schools, along with their guardians.
At the event, the Toyota traffic-safety mascot "Cuccu-doodle-doo" will help teach traffic-safety rules in an easy-to-understand manner, while traffic situations recreated outdoors with real cars will help teach how to properly cross a street, the meaning of different traffic signals and the dangers of running out into the street.
For guardians, there will be presentations on children's behavior, accident case studies and the importance of household education on traffic safety. A video presentation on proper seatbelt use will also be shown.
Also, as part of its social contribution activities in other regions of Japan, TMC holds an annual "Toyota Safety School" event for kindergarten and nursery school children living in and around Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. This event has been held at the Toyota Kaikan Exhibition Hall in Toyota City since 1975. Plans call for the event to be held from May to July this year.
