NTT Com Launches WLAN Roaming in Switzerland

Tokyo, May 14, 2009 - (JCN Newswire) - NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today an agreement with leading Swiss telecom service provider Swisscom (Switzerland) Ltd. and wireless Internet service provider Monzoon Networks AG to enable NTT Com customers travelling in Switzerland to use wireless local area network (WLAN) access points for data roaming, effective immediately.

The service is available to subscribers of any NTT Com WLAN service in Japan, namely HOTSPOT, HOTSPOT Express, OPEN Plan or OPEN Plan Light. The customer simply inputs their regular HOTSPOT login ID and password to use about 1,200 Swisscom access points in airports, rail stations, Swiss Federal Railways InterCity trains, hotels, cafes, etc. and 580 Monzoon access points in cafes, universities, hotels and more. Monzoon's network even includes certain areas outside of Switzerland, such as in neighboring Lichtenstein.

Subscribers can use the service without application and there is no startup fee. The access charge is just 25 yen (tax free) per minute.

As a special promotion, Global Roaming ia Swisscom and Monzoon access points in the month of May will be free of charge (excludes access by Global Roaming (iPass)).

NTT Com has global roaming arrangements with British Telecom (UK), China Mobile (China), Deutsche Telekom / T-Mobile Group (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Netherlands, UK and USA), iPass (USA), KT (South Korea), Maxis (Malaysia), StarHub (Singapore), Tata Communications (India), Telecom Italia (Italy) and TMN (Portugal), all of which, as well as Swisscom, are members of the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA).
