NTT DOCOMO Unveils 18 New Handsets; Rich Lineup Closely Attuned with Today's Mobile Users

Tokyo, May 19, 2009 - (JCN Newswire) - NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced today its lineup of 18 new handsets for launch on or after May 22 (varies by model). The lineup includes models in DOCOMO's four main series of FOMA(TM)3G handsets - docomo STYLE series(TM), docomo PRIME series(TM), docomo SMART series(TM) and docomo PRO series(TM) - and the new Evangelion Phone based on an upcoming anime film.

The new models and their planned launches are as follows:

docomo STYLE series

- Web-based RSS feed (My News) and online bookmarking (My Link).
- Left/right keys select hyperlinks on page (not back/forward page views).
- Maximum page size increased from 100 KB to 500 KB.
- Supports VGA sites.
- Plays Flash(TM) video files (FLV) inline.
- Selected text on websites can be copied to clipboard.
- JavaScript(TM), HTML cookies and HTTP referrer (also known as "referer").
- Tabbed browsing for easy switching between webpages.
- Plays Windows Media(TM) video files (WMV).

2. Upgraded Features

Voice-input mail
- Voice-to-text system for fast, easy mail composition.

Voice input for Quick Search function
- Input keywords via voice for one-stop, button-activated searches (i-mode, mail, etc.).

Local mail client for both 2in1(TM) (two-numbers-in-one-phone) accounts
- Secondary mail account is managed locally in the handset, instead of via webmail.
- Enables use of deco-mail(TM) animated pictograms and templates in these mails.

Precision battery indicator
- Battery power level indicated with five levels (instead of three), or by percentage.

Exportable settings for handover to new handset
- Alarm, mail, call and text-input settings can be exported to a new handset using a microSD(TM) memory card or dedicated PC software.

GPS services overseas
- Access to GPS services in 141 countries and regions (as of today) where packet communication via DOCOMO's international roaming service is supported.

Direct billing via i-a ppli(TM)
- Purchases possible via Java-based applications (currently via HTML sites only).

Area Mail(TM) disaster information service
- Area Mail alerts can produce audible ring even if phone is in silent mode.
