Yokohama, July 20, 2009 (JCN) - JGC Corporation and its partner Tecnimont S.p.A., Italy, announced today that they have received Award Notification from Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO) to provide the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning services for the Habshan 5 Process Plant, a part of the Integrated Gas Development (IGD) Scheme in Abu Dhabi.
The Habshan 5 Process Plant, which is located in an inland and desert area 150 kilometers southwest of Abu Dhabi, calls for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the core units including Gas Processing Unit (approximately 2,000 mmscfd), Sulphur Recovery Unit (approximately 5,000 ton/day) and NGL Recovery Unit (approximately 1,200 mmscfd). The work will be executed by a joint venture (50/50) of JGC, as leader, and Tecnimont S.p.A, the main operating company of Maire Tecnimont Group.
The contract will be on a lump-sum turnkey basis for approximately US$ 4,700 million, the largest contract ever awarded to JGC, and calls for the facilities to be completed in 2013. Upon completion, the IGD Project will contribute to meeting the rapidly increasing gas demand in the UAE.
Drawing on its strong background in the execution of both hydrocarbon and non-hydrocarbon related projects, with annual sales turnover of approximately $5 billion, JGC is currently executing projects in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Qatar, Indonesia and other countries. Furthermore, as an IWPP investor, JGC has contributed to sustainable power and water supply in Abu Dhabi through the two IWPP projects, Taweelah A2 and Taweelah B.
Maire Tecnimont S.p.A. is an international engineering and construction group operating in chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, power, civil engineering and infrastructure's sectors. At 31st December 2008, the Group reported Revenues of about 2.5 billion euro. In Abu Dhabi, Maire Tecnimont is currently executing Borouge 2 petrochemical expansion project, after having executed Borouge 1 project as well, and has been recently awarded Borouge 3 FEED contracts from Borouge, the JV between ADNOC and Borealis.
