Mitsubishi Inaugurates Solar Power Generation System for Al Fateh University, Libya
Tokyo, Oct 5, 2009 (JCN) - Al Fateh University has hosted the Mitsubishi Corporation inauguration and handover ceremony of a solar power generation demonstration system in Tripoli.

The system was installed on the campus of Al Fateh, established in 1957 and the largest university in Libya, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Al Fateh Revolution.

The donation comprises a part of the program being carried out by the University together with Mitsubishi Corporation, to stimulate applied field study of new energy.

The System consists of solar power generation device, simulation, monitoring and data processing equipment. It enables field analysis on the relations between power generation and climate conditions to be conducted under Libya's favorable insolation condition. Studies such as optimal utilization of generated power can also be carried out by means of this system.

Although Libya is currently a major oil/gas producing country Libya is seeking to diversify its energy source by introducing new energy technologies, among which solar energy is regarded as one of the most promising sources.

Mitsubishi Corporation, through this joint program with Al Fateh University, aims to contribute to the promotion of the use of renewable energy in Libya and the neighboring regions.
