NTT, Ubitus in Alliance to Promote Multi-Device Video Distribution Business

Tokyo, Oct 6, 2009 (JCN) - NTT Corporation and Ubitus, Inc. announced on Oct. 2 an alliance to cooperate in the development of video distribution business using multiple devices.

Ubitus's distributed computing technology helps to centralize computing power, democratize access, and optimize network bandwidth consumption.

NTT Group's image processing technologies, such as encoding, together with Ubitus technology, allow for image conversion processing with a large load to multiple devices, including on-demand.

The two companies will promote the platform for multiple device video distribution service and initially pursue the new broad rich media distribution market in Japan using PCs, mobile phones and IPTV.

NTT and Ubitus will study new value-added services, aiming at the video distribution market in Japan, while examining the possibilities of business in overseas markets.
