| CRL, NEC Develop Virtual Anti-vulnerability Cluster Technology Experiment System |

|
Tokyo, Sept 13, 2002 (JCN) - The Communications Research Laboratory and NEC have jointly developed a virtual anti-vulnerability cluster experiment technology system and begun evaluating network security technologies using the system.
The system allows network administrators to test protection against viruses and unauthorized access in a virtual environment. It uses four servers and VMware GSX Server, a virtual machine software product from VMware of California, to enable users to experiment their systems and technologies on a virtually enhanced environment which supports up to 32 servers. The system allows users to develop virtual test systems in various types of hardware, software, and network configuration so that they can build most appropriate anti-vulnerability network systems in a short period of time.
The CRL and NEC plan to use the results of the experiments to develop anti-vulnerability server technologies, upon which they will develop large- and small-scale network development technologies.
