Tokyo, Feb 26, 2004 (JCN) - The FacePass VU-R710A, due out April 1, is Toshiba's (TSES: 6502) latest face recognition security system that, based on digital images, controls the entry and exit of corporate employee. The system unlocks a building door only when the picture of an employee matches a pre-registered digital color image of the person.
The product, which can store data for 1,000 employees and 60,000 logs, now supports network configuration by centrally managing the entire corporate entry/exit information from a single control terminal.
About 70% smaller than the predecessor FacePass models, the R710A is priced at 1,000,000 yen ($9,259). Face data distribution management software VSU-R710A-MA, network application software VSU-R710A-SL, and personal data management package VSU-R710A-OP costs 300,000 yen ($2,778), 200,000 yen ($1,852), and 230,000 yen ($2,130), respectively.
The company will showcase the security system at the Security Show 2004 (March 2 - 5, Tokyo Big Sight).
