Tokyo, Apr 23, 2004 (JCN) - Cisco Systems Japan announced April 22 that it has successfully installed an FTTB (fiber-to-the-bed) network at the Gifu University Hospital.
The new network incorporates Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series floor switches and a Cisco Catalyst 6500, a 10Gbps backbone switch, to ensure a maximum data access speed of 1Gbps at approximately 2,800 bedsides.
The network also offers wireless LAN access throughout the hospital facilities, allowing hospital doctors to access medical data, such as CT scan and MRI images, almost anywhere in the hospital.
