| AIST Develops Organic Hydrogen Synthesis Technique Using Supercritical CO2 |
|

|
Tokyo, Sept 21, 2004 (JCN) - The National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) announced September 17 that it has developed a new technique to synthesize organic hydrogen for fuel cells.
Using supercritical carbon dioxide (CO2) and supported rhodium, a catalyst, the new approach can produce organic hydrogen with high selectivity and high yield.
Compared to the conventional techniques, the new system substantially reduces reaction temperature to 60 deg C.
Detailed research results will be presented at the 94th Catalysis Society of Japan Meeting to be held in Sendai from September 27 to 30.
AIST expects that the latest development will further promote the utilization of hydrogen fuel cells.
