Casio Develops Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT LCD; CEATEC Demonstration

Tokyo, Sept 22, 2004 (JCN) - Casio Computer announced September 21 that it has successfully developed a high-resolution VGA LCD module. The new LCD incorporates Casio's advanced Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT (HAST) LCD technology to provide a resolution of 368ppi.

The 2.2-inch module offers a contrast ratio of 450:1 and vertical and horizontal viewing angles of 160 and 150 degrees, respectively.

The HAST LCD has been made possible through advances in high aperture ratio thin-film transistors, and multi-pin thin chip and super-fine chip-on-glass bonding technology.

The result is an LCD that provides outstanding resolution and clarity in a thin module. Ideal applications include digital cameras, cellphones and other mobile devices.

Casio will demonstrate the LCD module at CEATEC JAPAN 2004 (October 5 - 9, Makuhari Messe).
