| Toyama Chemical, Mitsubishi Pharma Jointly Obtain Additional Approval for New Quinolone Antimicrobial Pazufloxacin Mesilate |

Tokyo, Feb 28, 2005 (JCN) - Toyama Chemical (TSE: 4518) and Mitsubishi Pharma (TSE: 4509) have jointly announced that they have obtained additional approval for pazufloxacin mesilate, a new quinolone antimicrobial agent, from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
The agent can now be used in the treatment of Legionella infections. In particular, it is expected to be effective against Legionella pneumonia.
Developed by Toyama Chemical, the agent has been distributed by the two companies under their respective sales brands: Pazufloxacin Injection from Mitsubishi Pharma and Pasil Injection from Toyama Chemical.
