| Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical, Keio University Discover Target Molecule for Anti-obesity and Antidiabetic Drug |

Tokyo, Mar 25, 2005 (JCN) - Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical (TSE: 4503) announced that it has discovered a promising target molecule for the development of anti-obesity and antidiabetic drug, in collaboration with Keio University.
Through mice experiments, the joint research group has confirmed that an Angiopoietin-related growth factor (AGF) has properties to improve obesity and diabetic symptoms. AGF is a protein secreted by liver.
The latest discovery may lead to the development of innovative drugs. Detailed research results is available in the online publication of Nature Medicine issued on March 21, entitled "Angiopoietin-related growth factor (AGF) antagonizes obesity and related insulin rresistance."
