Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories Confirm That Glycosylated Hesperidin Improves Blood Lipid Metabolism

Tokyo, Apr 14, 2005 (JCN) - Hayashibara Biochemical Laboratories announced on April 11 the results of its latest research on glycosylated hesperidin. The research has found that a regular intake of glycosylated hesperidin helps improve blood lipid metabolism in human body: especially, it lowers the level of neutral fat in the blood by 30-40%. Further, the research has elucidated that glycosylated heperidin has a property to stimulate a balanced release of very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL).

Detailed research results will be presented at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Nutrition and Food Science to be held in Tokyo on May 12 to 15.

Hesperidin, sometimes referred as vitamin P, is a citrus flavonoid with a blood vessel strengthening effect. In collaboration with Toyo Sugar, Ezaki Glico, and Tanabe Seiyaku, Hayashibara is currently distributing glycosylated heperidin for food products.

Aiming for practical applications for the food and medicine industries, the company will conduct further research on glycosylated heperidin.
