Tokyo, Jan 8, 2010 - (JCN Newswire) - JCB, the only international credit card brand based in Japan, and its international subsidiary JCB International (JCBI) today announced an alliance with China Construction Bank (CCB), a major commercial bank in China, for the issuing of JCB brand credit cards in China. CCB today started soliciting applications for its new Transformers Credit Card with card designs featuring the robot toys popular in Japan, China, and around the world.

CCB, originally one of China's four major state-owned banks, has a branch network extending throughout the county and a firm customer base. As the bank is aggressively building its credit card business, JCB expects to increase JCB cardmembers in China through this partnership. For CCB, partnering JCBI and adding the major international credit card payment brand JCB that originated in Japan will strengthen CCB's product line, enhance customer service, and further increase customer base. In building the partnership and developing the Transformers Credit Card, JCB contributed its expertise in co-brand program development from its knowledge and experience in the credit card business in Japan.

Since 1982, JCB and JCBI have been expanding JCB card acceptance in China to increase convenience for JCB cardmembers. Currently JCB has alliances with eleven partner banks and financial institutions for merchant acquiring, and approximately 80,000 merchants now accept JCB cards for payment. JCB brand card issuing to consumers in China has also been expanding to meet the growing needs of the market for international credit cards. In addition to CCB, Bank of China, Bank of Shanghai, China Everbright Bank, China Merchants Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China Minsheng Banking Corporation, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and Ping An Bank have already launched JCB brand credit cards issuing programs, and the cardmember base is more than 2.5 million in the country.

JCB and JCBI are expanding partnerships for JCB brand card issuing with Chinese financial institutions by strategically utilizing the knowledge, skills and network that JCB built in the credit card business in Japan for almost half a century, and are committed to developing and providing high-quality service to meet the diverse needs and lifestyles of China's consumers.
