Tokyo, Mar 26, 2012 (JCN) - NYK-HINODE LINE LTD has been awarded the ocean carriage for module contract by the JKC Joint Venture (JKC J/V) formed by JGC Corp., KBR Overseas Inc. and Chiyoda Corp., for the Ichthys LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) Project - a joint venture between INPEX (76%, the operator) and Total (24%).
Gas from the Ichthys Field, located in the Browse Basin approximately 200 kilometres offshore of Western Australia, will undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. The gas will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km subsea pipeline. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
For the Ichthys LNG Project, the LNG plant, including processing units, will be constructed off-site in large scale modules and shipped to Darwin for assembly.
NYK-HINODE LINE will exclusively allocate two of its module carriers M/V YAMATO and M/V YAMATAI to transport various main units as module cargo for this Project. The period of transportation is planned to be from the first quarter of 2014 to the second quarter of 2015, and will involve transportation of modules from Thailand, China and the Philippines to Darwin, Australia. More than 20 voyages are planned.
