Hitachi Software Engineering Co. Ltd. was established in 1970 as the first software development company in the Hitachi Group and we are now among the leading IT service companies in the industry. We mainly deal with basic software for mainframe computers and large-scale systems and networks for government agencies as well as the financial, insurance, and securities industries.
Under our management policy of "Quest the Truth!", which emphasizes "customer-oriented management", "ecology and human dignity" and "sincerity", we have grown to become a leading company in Japan's software industry, supported by our proven track record in applying our accumulated technical know-how in system solutions proposals to the development of excellent-quality, highly reliable systems.
In October 2005, our Industrial Systems Division attained a level of 5 for CMMI, an achievement which marks the first time that a company in Japan has attained a level 5 in the development of systems, including embedded systems, for manufacturing industries. We have also established international leadership in the fields of Multimedia Technology, GIS, Bio Informatics Products, High Level Security Software, and Embedded Software both in the US and Europe.
Hitachi Soft's "HIBUN(R)" series of security software has been extremely well received by customers as a solution for preventing leakage of confidential information, having sold a cumulative total of 1.5 million licensees as of the end of July, 2005 and has been introduced in over 1,000 companies in a broad spectrum of industries.
From 2003, we have been offering "Johmon", an IT security solution for monitoring PC log-ins and Internet access. "Johmon" is a finger vein authentication system that uses vein pattern in the finger to protect against impersonation or fraudulent use. In 2004, we scored an important triumph with the successful development of a compact version and commercialized this system in June 2005. "Johmon" uses vein patterns not visible to the eye, which makes impersonation extremely difficult and guarantees a highly accurate level of authentication.
