Tokyo, Sept 28, 2006 (JCN) - The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. has announced that the company's global flagship brand tire ADVAN Sport (V103) has been approved by BRABUS GmbH of Germany for its BRABUS ROCKET, a highly tuned coupe based on the Mercedes-Benz CLS. Tires from Yokohama Rubber have also been approved for the BRABUS MV12, a type of sport utility vehicle (SUV).
BRABUS GmbH, one of the world's top car tuners and manufacturers, has been in a technological partnership with Yokohama Rubber for the development of tires since last year. The BRABUS ROCKET, with 6200cc total displacement and a maximum output of 730 hp, is capable of speeds up to 350 km/h. Yokohama Rubber's ADVAN Sport tires have been developed for stable running at extreme speeds of over 300 km/h, and are known for their high-speed stability, comfort, handling and braking.
Since their release in 2004, ADVAN Sport tires have been adopted as original equipment by Bentley Motors (UK) for its Continental series, Porsche (Germany) for its 911 Carrera 4 and Audi AG for its flagship model S8. ADVAN tires have also been adopted in the competitive motorsports field, for example, as control tires for the FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
