Tokyo, Feb 5, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Konami Corp. <9766> said Tuesday its group operating profit in April-December jumped 20.4 pct from a year before to 32,154 million yen thanks to brisk sales of its video game software.
Sales for the first fiscal three quarters rose 8.1 pct to 229,730 million yen. Net profit surged 22.8 pct to 17,910 million yen.
Sales in digital entertainment operations that include game software rose 9 pct to 141.1 billion yen, sending operating profit growing 13 pct to 33.1 billion yen.
Sales in health service operations fell 2.4 pct to 65 billion yen, leaving operating profit dropping 14.5 pct to 4.7 billion yen due to a decrease in new members of its sports clubs.
