Tokyo, Mar 26, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Japanese drug maker Daiichi Sankyo Co. <4568> said Wednesday it has agreed with a German biotechnology firm to expand their joint research on the development of antibody drugs.
Daiichi Sankyo and Munich-based MorphoSys AG, which launched the joint research in March 2006, will extend the period of their alliance until March 2011.
Under the extended contract, Daiichi Sankyo will be able to increase the number of antibody programs to a maximum of six per one target antigen, making use of a human antibody library developed by MorphoSys.
Daiichi Sankyo will pay fees to use the antibody library, as well as licensing fees and royalties to the German firm.
