Tokyo, May 13, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Japanese drug maker Daiichi Sankyo Co. <4568> said Tuesday it has established a unit in Istanbul, Turkey, to boost sales of its drugs.
Daiichi Sankyo Ilac, Tiaret Ltd., a subsidiary of Daiichi Sankyo Europe GmbH., will mainly sell the Evista, a drug to treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal woman.
Daiichi Sankyo also said that it will launch joint sales of the Benitec, a drug for high-blood pressure, in India in June with Britain's GlaxoSmithKline PLC group.
The drug will be the first product of a Daiichi Sankyo subsidiary in India since its launch in March 2007.
