Yokogawa to Supply Control Systems for Vietnam Thermal Power Plant
Tokyo, Dec 7, 2010 (JCN) - Yokogawa Electric Corp.'s subsidiary Yokogawa Engineering Asia Pte Ltd will be supplying Marubeni Corp. with control systems for the Nghi Son 1 thermal power plant (two 300MW units) that is being built by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in the Nghi Son district of Thanh Hoa Province. Yokogawa is providing the control systems for the plant's boilers, turbines and auxiliary facilities. This contract the company's third control system order for a thermal power plant in Vietnam; the first one for the Pha Lai thermal power plant No. 2 (1998), and just recently, the Vung Ang thermo-power plant No. 1 (2009).
The Nghi Son 1 thermal power plant will be one of the largest power plants in the Nghi Son district, a fast-growing industrial region in Vietnam. Financing for this construction project is being provided in the form of Japanese government-backed ODA loans through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), wherein in March 2007 an agreement was signed for the disbursement of the first 20.943 billion yen loan. The plant is scheduled to start operation in 2014 and will supply electricity to the Nghi Son industrial complex and to the northern part of Vietnam.
For this project, Yokogawa is providing its CENTUM VP series of integrated production control systems, Exaquantum plant information management systems, as well as delivery, engineering, installation, commissioning, and operator training for these systems.
