Tokyo, Dec 27, 2010 (JCN) - NTN Corp., Takao Kogyo Co. Ltd and Asahi Forge Corp. will establish a joint venture in North America, which will carry out integrated production of forging, turning, and heat-treatment as the pre processes of manufacturing third generation hub bearings for automobiles.
The new company will use advanced manufacturing technologies to produce smaller, lighter hub bearings. The integrated production of the pre-processes will strengthen cost competitiveness and improve the profitability of products for small-sized automobiles. Turning and heat treatment activities in the new facility will commence in June 2011. Forging is scheduled to begin in February 2012.
