Tokyo, July 13, 2011 (JCN) - Mitsui Chemicals has announced that it will provide manufacturing technology for high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to India's ONGC Petro additions Limited (OPaL). Engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning work of the new plant will be handled by Korea's Samsung Engineering. Mitsui Chemicals' proprietary HDPE manufacturing technology enables production of high quality HDPE, a process has been recognized by the global market.
The current OPaL project brings the total annual production capacity in India (including two other plants) using our HDPE manufacturing technology to 860,000 tons or globally to 6.2 million tons per year. OPaL is a joint venture company of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. The current HDPE plant will be at the downstream unit of the Mega Petrochemical project which OPaL is currently constructing in Dahej, Gujarat, India.
