Bridgestone to Increase Capacity at its Aiken Plant
Tokyo, Oct 13, 2011 (JCN) - Bridgestone Corp. has announced that Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC (BATO), based in Aiken, South Carolina, U.S.A., will increase production capacity of passenger car radial tires (PSR) and light truck radial tires (LTR). BATO will ramp up tire production capacity from about 8,000 tires per day to 37,750 tires per day during the third quarter of 2015. Total investment is expected to be $211 million.
The Aiken Plant mainly manufactures PSR and LTR tires for the North American market. In July 2011, BATO announced that the Aiken Plant's production capacity would be increased by approximately 4,750 tires per day. This expansion is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2013. BATO decided to further increase Aiken? production capacity due to the steady growth in demand for PSR and LTR tires in the U.S.
