Tokyo, Oct 31, 2011 (JCN) - NTN Corp. has exhibited its latest electric vehicle motor technologies at the recently concluded 2011 Electric Vehicle Industry Expo (October 27-29). NTN put into the spotlight its latest technologies and products for EV systems, including its In-Wheel Motor System as well as its One Motor Type EV Drive System.
NTN's In-wheel Motor Unit features a motor system that combines a cycloid reduction gear and compact, lightweight drive motor to deliver high reduction ratio, high efficiency and high load capacity. The system eliminates the need for the conventional drivetrain in internal combustion engine-powered cars, thereby providing more freedom for car designs.
The single-motor drive system, meanwhile, allows smooth shifting, driven by the seamless operation between the vehicle drive motor and shift actuator. By selecting the appropriate gear ratio according to the vehicle running conditions, the system provides smooth acceleration and enables high speed running. This improves system efficiency and increases the cruising range per charge.
NTN also displayed a two-seater commuter EV at the event.
