Tokyo, Nov 16, 2011 (JCN) - Sojitz Corp. and U.S.-based Myriant Corp. have signed an agreement to form a sales and marketing partnership to distribute biobased succinic acid in Japan, China, South Korea and Taiwan, for applications such as plasticizers, polymers, urethanes and solvents.
The agreement combines the strength of Myriant's biobased succinic acid manufacturing platform with Sojitz's strong market presence in chemical sales and distribution throughout Asia. The plan is to set up a commercial biobased derivatives plant that will become operational in 2015. This will consume 150 million pounds of Myriant's biobased succinic acid.
The partnership with Myriant is expected to enhance Sojitz's presence in the green chemicals industry in Asia.
