NTN Develops Electromechanical Brake System with Parking Brake
Osaka, Dec 7, 2011 (JCN) - NTN Corp. has developed what it claims to be the next generation braking system for automobiles - a lightweight and compact "Electromechanical Brake System with Parking Brake".
The by-wire electric braking system is expected to improve the running stability and high responsiveness brought about by electronic control in automobiles. NTN's braking system integrates a parking brake function with an electric brake actuator and utilizes a planetary roller screw type.
The actuation and release of the parking brake operation can be performed quietly and instantly (about 0.3sec) by the electronic control. By automatically releasing the parking brake when starting and activating when stopping, safety and usability improves compared with manual parking brakes.
