Tokyo, Feb 8, 2012 (JCN) - Mitsui Chemicals Inc. will be increasing by 1,000 tons its hydroquinone production at its Iwakuni-Ohtake Works facility. The expansion is in line with the growing demand for hydroquinone, which is mainly used as polymerization inhibitors, anti-oxidant ingredients for rubbers and as pigments, worldwide and especially in Asia, amid increasing demand for acrylic acid, methyl methacrylate, and acrylonitrile.
The Iwakuni-Ohtake Works of Mitsui Chemicals claims to be the world's largest production facilities for hydroquinone, and the company holds Asia's top market share.
The planned production augmentation is targeted for completion on June 2013.
