Toshiba, Sojitz Win Contract for Vietnamese Power Plant Project
 

Tokyo, May 23, 2012 (JCN) - Toshiba Corporation, Sojitz Corporation and Korea's Daelim Industrial have won an order from Petrovietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation for the Thai Binh 2 Coal Thermal Power Plant Project in Thai Binh province on the north-east coast of Vietnam.

Toshiba, Sojitz and Daelim concluded an agreement with Petrovietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and an EPC contractor.

The coal thermal power plant project will have acapacity of 1,200 MW and is one of Petrovietnam's largest power generation projects ever. The total value of the order for the three companies will be approximately $830 million.

The order is an engineering, procurement and supply (EPS) contractthat includes engineering of the coal thermal power plant, procurement of equipment, and construction schedule control services.

Toshiba and Sojitz will be responsible for design, manufacturing and supply of the steam turbines and generators, whileDaelim will handle overall plant engineering and construction schedule control, as well as procurement of boilers and auxiliary equipment.

Toshiba and Sojitz received an order in July 2009 for steam turbine generators for the Vung Ang 1 ThermalPlant in Vietnam. The two companies will focus on power generation projects taking advantage of their respective strengths to further contribute to Vietnam's infrastructure development.
