ITOCHU Starts Construction of Secondary Battery Production Plants in North America

Tokyo, Nov 5, 2012 (JCN) - ITOCHU Corporation's wholly owned U.S. subsidiary ITOCHU, TEXMAC Inc., and InSpec Group will commence contract services for the construction of manufacturing plants for secondary batteries, such as lithium-ion batteries, and a range of ancillary facilities. As part of the agreement, TEXMAC and InSpec will support both the Japanese and North American manufacturers in constructing new plants in the future.

TEXMAC possesses extensive know-how and experience in dealing with the equipment of Japanese manufacturers who claim a significant share of the secondary battery manufacturing sector. InSpec, meanwhile, caters to raw materials manufacturers and battery manufacturers constructing plants in North America.

Apart from undertaking their individual roles, TEXMAC and InSpec will support the engineering and construction of secondary battery manufacturing plants in North America in an integrated manner.
