DENSO Named Among Automotive Suppliers Who Violated Antimonopoly Act

Tokyo, Dec 3, 2012 (JCN) - The Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) recently issued Cease and Desist Orders and Surcharge Payment Orders to certain automotive suppliers that violated the Antimonopoly Act in connection with sales of automotive starters, alternators, radiators (and electric fans) and windshield wiper systems.

JFTC conducted onsite investigation at certain automotive suppliers, including DENSO Corporation, in July last year, and the company has been cooperating with the JFTC.

As per the announcement, DENSO was named as one of the suppliers that violated the Antimonopoly Act (i.e. Article 3, which prohibits unfairly restricted transactions). However, DENSO was exempted from all of the above orders because the company had completely eliminated the conduct that was suspected to be in violation before the authority's onsite investigation and because it applied for the leniency program, which was granted by the JFTC.

It is DENSO's policy to comply with all applicable antimonopoly laws, and it has taken various measures, including implementing even more stringent compliance rules and even more enhanced compliance training, to further ensure that its employees comply with all applicable antimonopoly laws. DENSO currently is in complete compliance with all antimonopoly laws.
