Tokyo, Feb 24, 2004 (JCN) - Yamanouchi Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TSE: 4503) and Fujisawa Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (TSE: 4511) today announced that they have reached a basic agreement to merge on April 1, 2005.
The newly combined company is expected to gain a highly competitive edge in the global pharmaceutical market and will aim at developing into a global player.
Pooled resources will rank the new company 17th in the global pharmaceutical market with sales of approximately 800 billion yen.
