Mitsui Fudosan and NEC Provide Chargers for Japan's Largest EV and PHV Charging Site

Tokyo, June 27, 2014 - (JCN Newswire) - Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and NEC Corporation announced today the planned introduction of Japan's first large-scale charging services for Electric Vehicles (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV) at a commercial facility beginning in December 2014.

The two companies will install 125 chargers for EV and PHV at Tokyo Midtown, one of Tokyo's most recognizable high-rise developments, featuring offices, shopping, housing and hotels. This will be the largest number of EV/PHV chargers within a single facility in Japan and is expected to improve convenience for customers and contribute to mass deployment of EV/PHV

Mitsui Fudosan will install NEC's newly developed wall-mounted AC chargers for EV/PHV at 80% of Tokyo Midtown's pay-by-the-hour standard parking spaces. They will also install NEC's wall-mounted charging controllers which can perform user authentication for multiple chargers, centralized billing management and monitoring of chargers operation.

Following the equipment's installation, NEC will provide charging services for EV and PHV in cooperation with Japan Charge Network Co., Ltd.

"Mitsui Fudosan promotes smart city development by taking on a wide variety of social issues ranging from environmental and energy projects to urban development. Following Tokyo Midtown, we will continue developing progressive initiatives that promote a low-carbon society through the introduction of large-scale charging infrastructure to major facilities," said, Yasuhiro Nakamura, general manager, Tokyo Midtown Development Department, Mitsui Fudosan.

"NEC focuses on solutions for society with a commitment to being a social value innovator. We will continue to contribute to a low-carbon society by deployment of innovative new EV and PHV charging infrastructure," said Yutaka Noguchi, general manager, Global Products and Services Development Division, NEC Corporation.
